Huchuy Qosqo Trek 2D/1N – antes

Originally known as “Kakya Qawani”, the name of this impressive archaeological site located north of Cusco, above the Sacred Valley of the Incas, was changed to Huchuy Qosqo, or “Little Cusco”, in the 20th century. This will be the main site of our hike. It is believed that the palaces here were built by Viracocha, the eighth Inca ruler. Viracocha settled here after having conquered the other ethnic groups that had been living in the area. Located on a small place, Huchuy Qosqo is one of the most important archaeological sites, of which you will have an extensive view during the Huchuy Qosqo hike. This trek, including Sacred Valley. This way, this trek includes all the important places you must have seen as a tourist in Peru.

DAY 1: CUSCO – QORAO – HUCHUY QOSQO

After time to acclimatize in Cusco and a good night’s rest, we will pick you up early from your hotel, at around 6:00 am. Our first stop will be Qorao(7:00 am), which is located 3400 meters above sea level, in the hills above Cusco. Qorao is an Inca site that once served as a ceremonial complex associated with the worship of water. Our hike begins here. We will trek around the mountain of the Sacred Valley. Here you will be rewarded with a very impressive view over a series of valleys. We will continue walking along little-used trail, passing herds of grazing llamas and alpacas along the way. Andean birdlife can also be spotted on this section of the trail. Then we will stop for lunch in the small village of Q’enko(11:00 am), at 3500 meters above sea level. Our route in the afternoon follows a section of original Inca highway for about 2½ hours. Along the way we will see pre-Inca structures and a variety of different types of local flora before finally reaching the fascinating archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo in the mid-afternoon(1:00 pm). You will have the rest of the day free to wander around the ruins and to enjoy the atmosphere of this Inca site. We will eat our evening meal here and set up camp in preparation for a good night’s rest.

DAY 2: HUCHUY QOSQO – LAMAY – CUSCO

After breakfast(8:00 am) we will head down for about 2½ hours to the village of Lamay, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. From Lamay to Cusco we will take a bus through the Sacred Valley. Our destination is Cusco(12:00 pm).
